November 8 2010 - Notices
You can select an icon that will appear before the notice title.


November 3 2010 - Deleting PDF Documents
You can now delete PDF documents that you have uploaded. When you login you can click on the Dashboard link. Once you are at the Dashboard you scroll down until you get to the documents section. You can delete documents from here. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. You can also view the document.

You can now specify that a notice will only appear in the side panel instead of the main window.

You can select the width of your notices. You can select to display a notice in Full width, Half width or Third width, See the example below:

Notices will be displayed in this order:
Full width first, then Half width and finally Third width.
In all cases emergency notices will have a red background and important notices a yellow background.

You can select to display a link to an uploaded PDF file as a Marquee instead on a notice.

August 22 - IE 6 Test added
I added a test for Internet Explorer 6- if IE6 is detected (this test is not always reliable) the older version of the web site using tables is displayed.


August 21 - Page fetch method changed
I change the way that pages are displayed - AJAX is not used a much, command line parameters are used instead. This means that back and forward buttons now work as expected. It also produces faster page loads. This change was only made to elementary school sites.


August 18, 2010 - Notices on Specific Weekdays
I added an option on the Notices form which allows you to specify a day of week on which a notice will appear. This will display the notice on the selected pages on that weekday for the Duration of the notice. The default is All Days (i.e. every day)

In the example below- the notice will be displayed on the Home page every Monday between August 18 and September 17th.
Wednesdays
At present you only select All Days or a Specific day.

If you want to display the same notice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you will have to create 2 notices.

July 2010 - Layout

I converted all pages to use divisions instead of tables. Staff pages have been streamlined. Staff can now select several page layouts.

May 13 - Notices

I have changed what happens when you save a notice. It has happened many times that people made corrections to a notice and then pressed save again- this caused another notice to be added. Now when you save a notice the notice id field will have the id of the saved notice. The Save button will be changed to read Update.

If you want to add another notice, click on Add Notice on the Menu.

You can delete a document associated with a notice when you delete a notice.

The Event form has been redesigned to make adding an event more intuitive.

You can now add a link to a PDF file. The link will appear at the Event Name.


April 19, 2010 - Upload PDF Files

In addition to being able to add a notice on the home page, you can also select the class of the notice (Normal, Important or Emergency). The class determines the order in which notices are displayed-
Emergency first, then Important and finally Normal.


April 14 - Exams

An Exams section has been added to the Menu (usually under Academics). Notices can be added and Documents (pdf files only) can be uploaded to the Exams page.


April 9 - Upload PDF Files

When you upload a PDF file you now have the option to specify that a Notice linking to the uploaded file will be created. This notice will be created on the Home page if you upload as an administrator, or it will be created on your personal page if you do not have administrative access.

You can set the order in which multiple events on a specific date will appear. If there is no image for the event tip, a resized image of the picture (if there is one) will be used.

Mar 6, 2010 - Notices & Collage

You now have the option when saving a notice to display the notice collapsed or completely.
You can also select the manner in which it collapses and appears.
There is a button that can be clicked to expand/collapse all the notices at once.
The pictures of the collage now change positions at a specific interval.

There is now a section in the SchoolQC menu that will bring up some applications to help you with your notices. One of these will allow you to try various colour combinations for your notices.

I combined these 2 sets of images into the same folder. This produces a larger pool of images. This also means that you only have to upload 1 image instead of 2.

A check has been added to make sure that the area (width x height) of the picture does not exceed 800 000; this corresponds to 1024 x 768.

When you upload an image (with a width/height or aspect ratio between 1.1 and 1.5) it will be resized and cropped (if required) to produce a 400 x 300 image. The cropped portion will be taken from the center of the resized image. The image must be at least 400 x 300.

Feb 22, 2010 - Notices: Save, Edit, Delete Buttons

The Save buttons titles will change to Update if you enter a number in the Notice ID field; in addition the Delete check box will be enabled. If you check the delete box, the Save buttons titles will change to DELETE!


Feb 21, 2010 - Notices: Images

You can now use images that are narrower than 190 pixels in Notices: These images will not be resized. Images larger than 190 pixels will still be resized to a width of 190 pixels.


Feb 18, 2010 - Notices: Images

You can now add up to 10 external images to a notice. These images will display in random order along with any of the pre-defined images that were selected.

You can add a large picture to a notice. This picture can be placed above or below the notice text.

Clicking on the small image in a notice will open the link in the title if there is one.

You can add a small background image. You can select the image location from predefined list, or specify an exact location. The image will move to the location you specify as you change it's position.

Added a preview on the notice on the Add Notice form. Added a check list and mini preview to the Add Notice Form.

Feb 10, 2010 - Notices: Adding Images

You can add up to 4 images that will appear beside the text of the notice. If you select more than 1 image, one of your selected images will appear at random. You must enter the exact URL of the image in the Image URL field. The image will be resized to a width of 190 pixels; therefore image should not be smaller than this. You should also select images that are not much wider than 190 pixels- I suggest images between 200 and 600 pixels for the best results. You can also select an image from the list.

If you have graphics that you would like included for this feature please email them to me. They must be at least 200 pixels wide though, and must not refer to a specific school.


Feb 5, 2010 - Honour Rolls:

I have added the possibility for you to upload Honour Rolls as PDF files. You use the same function that is used to upload Newsletters, GB Minutes, etc.

If you want to use this feature just let me know and I'll activate it for your school.

If you want to upload more than 1 Honour Roll, it's important to note that they are displayed in the reverse order in which that are uploaded. The latest one is displayed first. So if you wish to upload more than 1, the earliest one should be uploaded first.
